Networking Without Networking / by Nicole Paulus

In about 2 hours, I will be hosting my first ever networking event at a local (craft beer/dog friendly) spot here in Tempe. I got the idea to host a networking event after a fruitless search for similar events in my area. All the "networking" events I found either cost money or were super cheesy (can you believe there are people out there who still operate with web 2.0 websites, ugh or worse, flash.)

Since I am trying to grow my business, not waste my money on cheesy events, I thought I should just host one that I would want to go to myself.

Here is how it will (hopefully) work: we all show up, drink beers, briefly introduce ourselves to one another, and then start the more in depth introductions. Everyone goes around in a circle and explains what they do, any projects they might be working on, and if they are looking for someone in particular to connect with.

Here is what my intro is going to sound like (except imagine a few more uhms thrown in the mix.)

My name is Nicole Paulus and for the past 2.5 years I have been running my own boutique digital marketing business. I specialize in website content creation as well as social media strategy and management. Basically I help small business owners stay relevant on the web. This includes blog writing and posting on their behalf, social media management, and newsletter creation and distribution.
I work with clients from all kinds of industries including teeth whitening, fitness instruction, vintage furniture, thought leadership, authors, and rag dolls. Since everyone is going digital these days, it's even more important to maintain a solid web presence.
By having me send out your monthly newsletters or manage your social media, business owners will have more time to focus on the operation side of your business.
I am hoping to connect with anyone who needs this kind of service for their business or knows someone who does.

Wish me luck y'all!
