Don't Just Sit There, Bust A Move / by Nicole Paulus

I recently read an article that stated sitting was more harmful to your health than smoking. Before I had a chance to ponder the validity of this claim, I was reminded how much heavier my ass felt after an 8 hour day working for "the man." At least when I work from home, I take frequent breaks to tidy up the kitchen, throw in a load of laundry, take my pup around the block or even bust a move. When I had my 9-5, I often worked straight through lunch, only getting up to refill my coffee cup or use the little boy's room. If I ever get another 9-5 I will make sure to include "frequent dance breaks" in my salary requirements.

According to the Huffington Post, "after one hour of sitting, 'the production of enzymes that burn fat declines by as much as 90 percent.'" Say, what? Sitting is making me fat? Sheesh! Time to bust a move!

Today's Music Monday post is dedicated to dance breaks. If you aren't lucky enough to work from home, make sure you take frequent breaks from your computer screen even if you take a quick jaunt around the block. Your ass will thank you.
